Short bio

Matthias holds a Master of Laws, with distinction, from the Vrije Universiteit Brussel (2020). During his studies, he spent a semester at the Riga Graduate School of Law in Latvia on an Erasmus exchange.

Since 2020, he works as an attorney specialising in data protection, technology and intellectual property law at the bar of Antwerp. He has been a sought-after speaker at several events and seminars throughout his career.

As of October 2025, he is an academic assistant and PhD researcher under the guidance of Prof. Dr. Griet Verhenneman. He assists with the ‘AI: Law and Ethics’ course. His research focuses on the challenges of data protection in the rapidly evolving field of artificial intelligence.
