Short bio

Lucie Vanwersch is a junior PhD researcher who holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology and a Master’s in Forensics, Criminology and Law from the University of Maastricht. She also holds an Honours Research Certificate from the Doctoral School of Law in Maastricht that she completed next to studying for her Master’s Degree. She was subsequently employed as a teacher at the faculty of Psychology and Neuroscience of Maastricht University for a year before starting as a PhD student in November 2020.

She is currently working as a PhD student for the Prevention of Fraud in Sports (PrOFS) project under the supervision of prof. dr. Wim Hardyns (department of Criminology, Criminal law, and Social law), prof. dr. Annick Willem and dr. Bram Constandt (both from the department of Movement and Sports Sciences). The aim of this FWO funded SBO project is to use interdisciplinary methods and a holistic approach to tackle fraud in sports and to develop and assess innovative tools to prevent it.
