
Short bio
Julie holds a master’s degree in Law with great distinction (Ghent University, 2017). She partook in an advanced summer course at Helsinki University on International Law, War and New Technologies (Erik Castrén Institute of International Law and Human Rights, 2016). Julie is a former member of and participant to the 2016 UGent team for the Philip C. Jessup International Moot Court Competition (Washington, 2016).
From 2017-2020, Julie was a lawyer at contrast – European & Business law (Zaventem), with particular expertise in competition law and privacy & data protection law. Today, Julie is a Legal Consultant at Deloitte, and guiding start-ups / scale-ups / SME’s in their legal challenges & daily operations, namely within the fields of business & commercial law, IT & technology law, privacy & data protection (GDPR) and intellectual property.
Since 2022, Julie is a teaching assistant at the department “Criminal Law, Criminology and Social Law” of Ghent University. In this capacity, she assists Prof. Dr. Gert Vermeulen in the courses “Data Protection Law (Gegevensbeschermingsrecht)” and “Selected Issues: Cybercrime, Technology and Surveillance”.
