Short bio

Joke holds a Master’s degree in Criminology (Ghent University, 2021). Her thesis, which was nominated for the criminology dissertation prize, focused on the victim-offender overlap in the field of sexual violence. As of November 2021, she is a PhD Fellow of the Research Foundation Flanders (FWO) under the supervision of Prof. Dr. Christophe Vandeviver and is a member of the Institute for International Research on Criminal Policy. Her research focuses on the role of violent offenders in the transmission of violent offending in offender networks, using a network-based approach.
