Short bio

Gwen Herkes has a Master in Criminological Sciences and in Business Economics (Management of Public Organisations). Currently, she works as an academic assistant in criminology and criminal policy and is a member of the Institute for International Research on Criminal Policy (IRCP) within the Department of Criminology, Criminal Law and Social Law of the Faculty of Law and Criminology at Ghent University. She is also a member of the Gent University Interdisciplinary Research Consortia Crime, Criminology and Criminal Policy (IDC CCCP) and the Centre for the Social Study of Migration and Refugees (CESSMIR). Her PhD research is on the topic of victimisation in a context of migration and human smuggling.
