Short bio

Evelien Lootens-Stael is currently working as a PhD researcher at the IRCP, under the supervision of Prof. Dr. Charlotte Colman and Prof. Dr. Wouter Vanderplasschen. She holds a Master’s degree in Clinical Special Needs Education and Disability Studies (2021), and an Honours Programme certificate (Think & Talk, 2023). In 2023, she graduated as a Master in Criminological Sciences summa cum laude, with the highest score of her class. Her master’s thesis concerned the onset, persistence, and desistance of a criminal career in synthetic drug manufacturing and trafficking. Her current research focuses on female recovery and desistance pathways in Belgium (Special Research Fund).
