Short bio

Shana Vanderveken holds a Master of Laws (University of Ghent, 2014) and works since 2014 as an attorney at the bar of Ghent.

As of 2021, she is a member of the Institute for International Research in Criminal Policy (IRCP). After working as a teaching assistant (2021-2023), she became an academic assistant and PhD researcher (70%) under the guidance of Professor Wendy De Bondt at the Department Criminology, Criminal Law and Social Law at the Faculty of Law (Ghent University). Her main areas of interest relate to youth law, juvenile justice and children’s rights.

Shana provides assistance for the following courses: ‘Children’s Rights’ and ‘Youth Law’.

Her doctoral research focuses on knowing and exercising rights as a minor.
