Short bio

Ariana graduated from ESPOL (Ecuador) with a bachelor’s degree in economics. In 2020, she joined the Ministry of Education of Ecuador as District Director, where she managed various educational projects and programs. In 2022, she obtained an MSc in Sustainable Development from KU Leuven.

Currently, Ariana is a doctoral fellow supported by Ghent University’s Special Research Fund (BOF) Scholarship. Her doctoral research focuses on understanding tolerance towards bribery through a behavioral framework, examining socio-psychological dynamics and neutralization mechanisms related to corruption tolerance, with Ecuador as a case study.

She is also a researcher on the  “A Comprehensive Investigation on the Rationale of Corruption in Ecuador” CIRCLE project, a collaboration between Ghent University, KU Leuven, Universidad de Cuenca, and ESPOL. Ariana’s work is supervised by Prof. Dr. Jelle Janssens and Prof. Dr. Christophe Vandeviver.
