Short bio
Sien is an academic assistant and PhD researcher at the Department of Criminology, Criminal Law and Social Law of the Faculty of Law and Criminology at the University of Ghent. She holds a Master’s degree in Criminology (KU Leuven, 2023) and a Master’s degree in Human Sexuality Studies (KU Leuven, 2025).
Sien assists Prof. Dr. Lieven Pauwels in four criminological courses: Statistics for Criminology , Crime Prevention, Aetiological Criminology and Evolution and Human Behaviour. For her PhD research, under the supervision of Prof. Dr. Lieven Pauwels and Dr. Ann De Buck, she focuses on the aetiology of sexual violence and intimate partner violence perpetration using quantitative research methods.
