Short bio

Jeroen holds a master’s degree in Law (Ghent University, 2018) and a LL.M in Law & Technology (Tilburg University, 2019). During this LL.M he became increasingly interested in privacy and data protection and the societal impact of new technologies on people’s right to privacy specifically. Jeroen likes to apply the theoretical knowledge he gained during his LL.M. in practice, which made him decide to start a career in consultancy. Since 2019, he works for Deloitte as a legal consultant: in this function, he assists clients to foster privacy compliance within their company.

Besides his work in consultancy, Jeroen always aimed to further deepen his academic knowledge of privacy as well. Therefore, he started a part time function as teaching assistant at Ghent University for the course “Privacy Law”. In this role, Jeroen assists Prof. Dr. Gert Vermeulen in the educational activities pertaining to this course. Jeroen’s experience in practice is an asset, e.g. when student’s papers need to be reviewed or students need to be guided in their internship or the writing process of their master’s thesis.
